Safety & Reliability

Safety

American Dental Association (ADA)

Teeth whitening with Crest Whitestrips™ is a safe procedure as long as there are no underlying problems such as inflamed gums and the instructions are adhered to. Not much can go wrong. Where the biggest pitfall lies is that people are so enthusiastic about the results obtained that they whiten too often and this is of course not very good for the teeth. We recommend at least 6 months between the treatments. Crest Whitestrips™ contains peroxide, the same enamel-safe ingredient dentists use for teeth whitening. Crest Whitestrips™ have been proven safe by numerous clinical studies and are approved by the ADA and FDA in the US, which have one of the strictest safety guidelines in the world.

Counterfeit Strips

Due to the great success of Crest Whitestrips™ from America, Chinese manufacturers started copying the strips. There are many Whitestrips™ brands on the market that want to piggyback on Crest’s success. You will find some of them at this page.

The Crest Whitestrips™ are also counterfeited in China and sold under the same brand. These strips are purchased in Hong Kong and are difficult to distinguish from the original. They are the same strips and they hardly differ in use. They also provide whiter teeth, but they are of less quality than the original strips. With the original strips you achieve faster results and they also last longer.

Because there are many counterfeit strips in circulation, Crest regularly renews its packaging. In this way, the counterfeit strips are easy to recognise. Crest has a new blue packaging sincet the beginning of 2022. You can see this on Crest’s official site: Crest.com. We only sell these original Crest Whitestrips™ purchased in America.

What to do about tooth sensitivity?

If too much tooth sensitivity is experienced during or after using the Whitestrips™, discontinue using them for 1-3 days, then resume once a day. If you continue to experience problems, discontinue again or try a lower strength Whitestrips™ variant. There are several measures that can be taken to minimize tooth sensitivity. Use of a toothpaste especially for sensitive teeth. Use a softer toothbrush to reduce pressure on the enamel. Using products with extra fluoride to strengthen the enamel.

Tip: Use an anti-sensitivity toothpaste while Crest Whitestrips™ are being used to minimize the risk of tooth sensitivity.
